"Ohhh Stickers Mommy!"

Lately I've learned that I am open to non traditional ways of entertaining my kids. For example this afternoon when I got home from work I wanted to change into kid friendly duds before I was painted with food, snot, and other possible sticky substances. All three baby boys wanted to go with me to my bathroom where my closet is. They wanted me to hold them all at the same time. They were whining for me to pick them up. I picked each one up and gave them a big hug and explained to them that mommy just wanted to change clothes really quick. My explanation did not satisfy their wants at that moment. The whining continued.

As a busy mom I know to find a quick distraction when I have something I have to get done. They weren't interested in the toys littered around my bathroom that they play with every morning while I get ready.  They didn't want to play with my brushes or combs either.  While looking around for something to catch their interest I happened to see a few pantyliners on the counter. Now let me start by saying, My boys love stickers. They REALLY love stickers. They stick them to the back of their hands, on the front of their shirts, on the back of each other's shirts, etc. They peel and stick them over and over and over until there is no stick left. So back to the pantyliners. I'm sure you know where I am going with this. I unwrapped 3 brand new pantyliners, stuck one on each boys shirt and said "Look stickers!". I  figured this would buy me at least enough time to change clothes. I totally underestimated the entertainment value of a pantyliner. I was able to change clothes, go potty, and make my bed!!! All while the boys sat happily on the bathroom floor peeling and sticking pantyliners all over themselves.

Later I went to get something out of my closet with Cooper following closely behind.  He looked at my bathroom counter, saw more pantyliners and said "Ohhhh, stickers mommy" with such delight! I guess one day we will have to discuss the fact that they aren't really stickers. Until then, I can enjoy 5 minutes of peace when necessary... one pantyliner at a time!
